The 1-3 Tennessee Titans are clearly still in rebuilding mode. The 2024 Titans don’t currently appear capable of meeting offseason expectations. The remainder of the season may be more about evaluating Will Levis and his future franchise quarterback prospects.
Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins named a potential trade candidate
Will the Titans consider trading superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins?
That unfortunate reality may make the Titans sellers at the trade deadline, which is approximately one month away. The Titans have some difficult games before then, including ones versus the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills. If it’s clear the Titans aren’t going to be in postseason contention, then veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will be their most intriguing asset.
The 32-year-old Hopkins is in a contract year. The Titans declined opportunities to extend his contract beyond this year in the offseason. Losing Hopkins for nothing in the offseason would be a fireable offence considering the Titans need all the draft capital they can get to accelerate the rebuild.
Several Super Bowl contenders could use a go-to receiver, with the Bills and Kansas City Chiefs being on that list. Elsewhere, it wouldn’t be shocking if the Cleveland Browns (Mike Vrabel/Deshaun Watson connection) made a play for Hopkins as they attempt to salvage Watson and their season.
Elsewhere, if the New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers lose out on the Davante Adams sweepstakes to the New York Jets, they could view Hopkins as an alternative option.
Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.Com recently named Hopkins as a potential suitor for the Browns. ESPN’s Dan Graziano did the same, linking Hopkins to the Steelers. Additional suitors could emerge as the trade deadline approaches.
Hopkins has recorded 10 receptions for 121 yards and one touchdown in four appearances this season. He’s battled through an MCL injury suffered in training camp, and just recently got back to full strength. If the Titans trade Hopkins, they’d have to replace him next offseason via free agency, or the 2025 NFL Draft.
