Head on a swivel today. When I saw Jeremy Fowler tweet that the Tennessee Titans had signed Hendon Hooker, I had to triple-check to make sure it wasn’t an April Fool’s joke. It’s not. After initially dunking on UT fans by drafting Will Levis instead of Hendon Hooker, the Titans have finally decided to cater to Vols fans and sign Hooker.
Titans sign 3 players including QB Hendon Hooker
A busy day for the Titans front office.
Speaking of Levis, this is probably an indication that they are working on trading him. They signed Mitch Trubisky to be the backup early in free agency. There is no reason to carry four quarterbacks, even in the offseason, so signing Hooker indicates to me that Levis is on his way out.
Hooker was a third-round pick by the Detroit Lions in 2023. They cut him last year, and he spent time with the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets at the end of the season.
The Titans also signed running back Michael Carter. Some will say this is an indication that Jeremiyah Love isn’t going to be the pick at four. Those people are wrong. Carter will be competing for, at best, the third running back spot. They still might not draft Love at four, but this move gives no indication of what they are thinking either way.
Carter was a fourth-round pick by the New York Jets in 2021. He has rushed for 1,692 yards in his five seasons in the league.
Lastly, the Titans have signed wide receiver Lance McCutcheon. He went undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft and has bounced around on a few practice squads over the last couple of years.
